This time of year seems to be stressful for many people who are scrambling to buy those perfect gifts. Last week Rick and Brandon gave tips on how to approach buying and setting a budget.  Today, they will  continue their discussion on buying without breaking during the holidays.  In addition, download this tool for buying gifts all year long.

  1. Download our worksheet (if it makes buying easier).
  2. See #51 Podcast to learn about budgeting yourself
  3. Try using the cash method.  Make a note of how much cash you take out and put it into a separate envelope.
  4. Make an envelope (or phone notepad) of your credit card purchases.  There also may be apps.
  5. If you have a baking or craftsman skill, list recipients who would like one of your creations. (See our 25 year baking tradition of baking 30 plates).
  6. Shop at estate sales and thrift stores looking for that vintage or antique items.
  7. Use cash back awards on your credit cards.
  8. Go in with someone on a present.
  9. Start planning for next year’s gifts.

 

Moral: Think unconventionally when buying.  You may surprise the people on your gift list.
