Medicare Part B prescription drug will harm high income individualsThe 2003 Medicare prescription drug bill provided a little noticed provision increasing the premiums in 2007 by as much as 73% for some individuals.Social Security recipients receiving over $80,000 ($160,000 for married), will pay an extra surcharge every month. Individuals making over $200,000 ($400,000 for married) will pay an extra $68.60 per month or a total of $162.10 per month for Medicare Premiums.But the news get worse, the premiums will double and then triple by 2009 resulting in some individuals paying $5,000 per year.
