Medicare Part B prescription drug will harm high income individuals

The 2003 Medicare prescription drug bill provided a little noticed provision increasing the premiums in 2007 by as much as 73% for some individuals.Social Security recipients receiving over $80,000 ($160,000 for married), will pay an extra surcharge every month.

Individuals making over $200,000 ($400,000 for married) will pay an extra $68.60 per month or a total of $162.10 per month for Medicare Premiums. But the news get worse, the premiums will double and then triple by 2009 resulting in some individuals paying $5,000 per year.

If you are a retired individual that has an option of paying for prescriptions outside Medicare through another plan (like AFTRA or any other entertainment industry guilds), you must determine which plan is best for you
