Company Background
After many years at a large accounting firm preparing and reviewing tax returns, I realized that I didn’t just want to help people get through the scramble of getting their taxes done correctly and filed on time.
So I founded the firm Rick Norris, JD, CPA, Business Management and Consulting. The firm’s initial focus was on helping people - individuals and businesses - better manage finances and plan for taxes to improve their financial position and prosperity.
Based in southern California, it was only natural that many of our early and longest-term clients were and are people and companies in the entertainment industry. Working closely with them, we’ve gained a wealth of in-depth knowledge about the inner workings of industry-specific businesses such as production houses, as well as the unique accounting and reporting requirements involved in royalties and residuals.
Over time, the firm has grown and our service offerings have expanded to leverage new areas of expertise. We work with an ever wider variety of individuals and businesses in many different industries. As a result, we have developed in-depth industry knowledge and business planning and management skills that allow us to offer our clients a uniquely diverse collection of services. We specialize in the strategic use of technology to help find the optimum answers for each client’s unique situation.
Today, in addition to financial management, accounting, and tax planning and preparation services, we offer a full line of services for business strategy and management consulting, and highly specialized services developed to meet the needs of a rapidly evolving business world including Sarbanes-Oxley compliance and forensic accounting and fraud detection.
The firm is a member of the American Association of CPA's (AICPA), California Society of CPA's (CSCPA), the steering committee of the CSCPA's Los Angeles Chapter of the West LA Technology User's Group and the LAX-Marina del Rey Chamber of Commerce.
